This house is located in the village of Deora – a wonderfully relaxing area surrounded by Himalayan foothills, pine forests and rice terraces. It’s one of the most authentic Indian retreats we know of, decked out with chic design touches using local materials and traditional interiors. The woodcarvings around the doorframes set a stunning contrast to the colourfully painted windows and doors. It is simple, but exceptionally clean, fresh and welcoming with comfortable beds and linen, and western toilets (and a hot water bucket bath in the bathrooms). The village is dotted with beautiful homes and friendly smiling locals and the Deora village house is the perfect spot to unwind by the fire with a sundowner before digging into some freshly prepared Kumaon cuisine.
