Now we like water sports as much as the next person and frankly a holiday to Indonesia isn’t a proper trip without spending some time peacefully paddling along on the nation’s jungle shrouded rivers.
However this does not mean we will be hurrying to emulate the antics of kayaker Tyler Bradt who plummeted 186 ft down the face of Palouse Falls in Washington in an attempt to break the world record for kayak descents.
It took the brave (or crazy, whichever you prefer) sportsman just 3.7 seconds to reach the bottom of the falls, reaching speeds of 100mph at some points in his mammoth drop.
His efforts paid off and he is now the proud owner of a world record (and a broken paddle and a sprained wrist but that’s neither here nor there).
Bradt told reporters that he had attempted the feat as he wanted to show what human beings are capable of.
Hmm, we think that for us that might be a gentle paddle in the Indonesian sea, watching the sun set over the surrounding islands.
Definitely enough adventure for one holiday.
