Mozambique is one of Africa’s most exciting countries.
It has all the vibrant city life that European nations boast, a huge array of tropical beaches and isolated getaways, and – how could we forget – some of the most incredible big game on the continent.
But even Mozambique needs a little helping hand when it comes to maintaining its position at the forefront (at least we think so) of safari holiday destinations in Africa.
And this time the help has come in the form of 500 elephants from Botswana (another one of our African holiday favourites… but that’s another story).

The elephants, which normally wander for miles on the lush savannahs of Botswana will probably be unfazed by the 1,800 km trip they’ll have to make to Mozambique before the end of the year.
Mozambique has paid £1,200 for each of the beasts, and is hoping to restock the lost herds of Gorongosa – which saw their elephant population fall to just 111 in 2001.
So if you want to join giant beasts on their trip to Mozambique, why not have a look at our ‘from bush to beach’ tour – which showcases the country’s more luxurious getaways.
