Reykjavik is renowned for its amazing club culture, and for us there is one music festival in particular that stands out from the crowd.
We’re talking about the Iceland Airwaves Festival, which has been rocking the country’s capital since 1999.
It’s the world’s northern-most music event and has a long history of pulling in the best musical talent the world has to offer – which is why we’ll be packing our bags and heading there ourselves next month.
Kicking off on October 14th, the five-day music extravaganza is spread across some of the city’s chicest venues and is not to be missed (the Kings of Convenience are headlining).
In the words of NME’s Emily Mackay, "their economy may be screwed, but their music scene and annual festival are still booming".
So if you’re looking for a little rock star excess when you head overseas this autumn, forget Ibiza and start thinking about a holiday to Iceland.
Reykjavik is where the pulse of the music business is, and we’re not going to miss a beat – and neither should you.
