The prize purse regularly swells to more than £500,000, and just last year Team Karma, captained by Gilberto Castrol, walked away with more than £330,000 for the largest catch ever recorded – a whopping 415 pounds.
And whether you’re ready to take part in the Los Cabos or not, a holiday to Mexico offers up perfect fishing whatever time of year. So if you’re planning a sailing and fishing trip look no further than the Gulf of California.
The 11th annual Los Cabos Billfish Tournament takes place October 13th-17th and for those who are used to hooking brown trout in the Thames you can rest assured there’ll be another competition held in 2010. So there’s plenty of time to get your eye in.
