There are just 11 species of whale on the planet, and if you set sail on the west coast of Mexico at the right time of year you could spot eight of them.
Magdalena Bay, which is in Los Cabos, is renowned for its whale watching, but if you’ve got your own luxury private charter you don’t have to hang around the most popular tourists spots in the region. You can simply up anchor and go wherever you like.
And if you sail into the Sea of Cortes (better known as the Gulf of California, and on the opposite side of the Cabos Peninsula) you’ll avoid the full force of the Pacific, which can make even the hardiest of seafarers a little queasy.
