Baja California is renowned for its surfing, but there’s something this Mexican state does even better. Scuba diving.

The Sur is known as the aquarium of the world and the Gulf of California boasts more than 800 species of fish.

Stingrays, sea lions, dolphins and whales are all common sights, and the water is so clear it’s even possible to leave your diving cylinder and regulator behind and head under the waves with just a snorkel. We recommend keeping hold of your flippers though – it makes swimming a lot easier and you won’t feel like the odd one out when you’re surrounded by gray whales and bottlenose dolphins.

Venture outside the Gulf of Mexico and into the sea of Los Cabos and things start to get a little more adventurous.

The most daring of you will be able to head into the depths, exploring the underground cave systems that make the peninsula a haven for expert divers.

No holiday to Mexico would be complete without an underwater adventure, and there’s plenty on offer.ADNFCR-2390-ID-19371046-ADNFCR
