Secluded from the more popular sites in the area, our favourite Blue Mountain camp is a totally exclusive and utterly unique camping experience. You’ll sleep in luxury swags on raised platforms in the middle of the bush: talk about being immersed in nature. Forget about answering those oh-so-important work emails because out here, not only is there limited connectivity to the outside world, but you’ll be too distracted to even notice.
location
Hidden away deep in the Blue Mountains, the resort is reachable from Sydney in less than two-hours by road. Alternatively, make it a short trip and fly in by helicopter under an hour.

your room
Blue Mountain camp has three bases, and each base can sleep two. However, your stay will be 100% private as the whole camp will be booked out whether there are two or six of you visiting. At night you’ll be exposed to the raw elements and wildlife as you’ll find your camp without any walls. Don’t worry, you won’t feel the breeze. Each camp consists of raised wooden platforms where you’ll find your bed – an authentic twist to an Australian swag (a mattress with a 100% thread count) resting on top of an inlaid cushion to provide you with extra comfort. A cosy duvet and a choice of pillows will be provided for that extra snugness. Adding to the rustic theme we love that the private ensuite facilities consist of a bucket camp shower.
why we like it
We like to do things differently at Black Tomato, which is why our attention was brought to Blue Mountain Private Safaris. Life goes back to basics here, with a hint of eco-luxury. This is not your conventional resort, there are no swimming pools or fine dining facilities. Instead, take a dip in river that runs beside the resort and kick back under the canopy and timber structure by the bank whilst your guide prepares you a traditional Australian camp- oven roast fit for a king.
