the luxurious king billy suite

As close as you can get to Cradle Mountain-Lake St Clair National Park, the Lodge is a cosy mountain home in Tasmania with rustic timber cabins and every luxury you could want. Curl up next to open fires in the oversized comfy chairs and take in the fantastic scenery or simply chill out with friends and a board game (we love going back to the days before Xbox). Ride on horseback, take a mountain bike for a spin, or learn how to fly-fish, and after a good work out in the mountains, what better to soothe your tired muscles than a therapeutic massage at the Waldheim Alpine Spa? Bliss.

location
Cradle Mountain Lodge is a great escape from the hustle and bustle of city life, while only being a couple of hours away from Launceston and Devonport in inland Tasmania. The hotel is surrounded by mountains, lakes and 1,500 year old trees: a true wilderness experience. There are 20 different walking trails with paths suitable for anyone, whether you’re looking for a quiet evening stroll, or a more intrepid adventure, so that you can explore Tasmania’s best kept secret: the National Park. Living this close to the park’s vegetation, don’t be surprised to see some unusual visitors on your deck – perhaps the odd wombat or wallaby to make things a little more interesting.
your room
We know you expect nothing but the best, so we’re sure you’re going to love the King Billy Suites at Cradle Mountain Lodge. You can cosy up to the fire in your living room or bedroom, unwind in your amazing oversized bathroom (with a spa bath no less) or sit back admiring the green mountainside, but of course you’ll do it from your deck-top private hot tub. Naturally.

With the breathtaking scenery and fantastic rooms, we can’t think of much that you’ll be missing, but how about a few little extras? Perhaps a fire-side glass of port, or delicious little surprises every evening, such as gourmet canapés, or cheese and fruit platters. You certainly won’t go hungry.
what others say

Named the ‘Best Lodge’ by Australian Gourmet Traveller and listed in Conde Nast Traveller’s 2009 Gold List as the ‘Best for Location’ the Lodge has been aptly recognised for the amazing place that it is, so it’s no wonder others love it too.
