Whether it’s your first time to Morocco or you simply can’t get enough, this is the classic Moroccan adventure with a Black Tomato twist. On this whirlwind experience hit up the hustle and bustle of Marrakech delving deep into its labyrinth of its souks and alley ways with a private guide before heading up the Atlas Mountains to cool off and take in the expansive views. And of course no trip to Morocco would be complete without exploring the dunes of the Sahara with a bonfire feast and camp under the stars.

the colourful souk

Start off at the Berber-lux La Maison Arabe in the heart of Marrakech’s medina, nestled in narrow streets with high clay walls. Settle in and enjoy the two swimming pools, complimentary breakfast (homemade Moroccan pancakes, anyone?) and fresh mint tea before hitting the streets. After a horse and carriage tour of the city, our local guides will show you the hidden parts of the souks which most visitors miss. Visit the wool-dyers and leather-makers, and hear the clink-clink of the metalworkers’ tools as they hand-make decorative lamps, plates and bowls.

Haggle for anything from jewellery to hand-carved wooden trinkets, herbs and spices, shoes, leather bags and belts. Our guide will show you the best quality shops and give you insight into the fascinating sights, for a real under-the-skin experience.

up to the mountains and down to the desert

Now it’s time to escape the city and head into the High Atlas Mountains for a breath of fresh air. Enjoy spectacular mountain views before bedding down for the night in the charming Kasbah Tamadot.

After the lofty heights of the mountains, travel down to the famous Sahara desert. Drive over towering sand dunes in a 4×4 and see nothing but sand and blue skies. No buildings, no people, just total silence. Sleep in a simple yet cosy tented camp at the eco friendly Atta Saharan Camp (think proper beds and meals cooked for you the traditional Berber way) and ride camels through the sand. At night, dine on slow-cooked tagine by the bonfire, and fall asleep to deep silence under the brightest stars you are ever likely to see.

Spend the next day interacting with Nomadic tribes,  learning their customs and immersing yourself in the magic of the desert before heading back to the ‘civilisation’ of Ouarzazate. Known as the ‘doorway to the desert’, Ouarzazate was made famous by films such as Gladiator and Kingdom of Heaven; you will even have a unique opportunity to visit the studios. Head to see the spectacular Kasbah Taourirt, and lose yourself in the winding alleys and exotic markets.

Finally, before heading back to the bustle of Marrakech, you will visit the beautiful landscape of the Ouirgane Valley, where you can take a walk, try horse riding or explore the surrounding villages. Take mint tea with the Berbers, eat fresh fruit and try some of the local speciality foods. You will be staying in La Roseraie, so if you just fancy relaxing all afternoon, take advantage of the 3 swimming pools or enjoy a massage in the hammam to prepare you for the bustle of Marrakech and some last-minute shopping before you fly home.
