It’s really no wonder that the explorers who found this natural wonder named it as such, since it is a cliff edge with an almost 4,000 ft sheer drop – we can vouch that standing on the edge really does make you feel as though you’ve reached the last land on earth.
World’s End is in Horton Plains National Park, a beautiful place teeming with plants and animals which we just fell in love with as soon as we arrived.
It’s largely made up of cloud forests similar to those found in Costa Rica, so you’ll want to keep your eyes peeled for elusive creatures like sambar deer and rusty-spotted cats (no, we hadn’t heard of these before we got to Sri Lanka either).

Once you’ve finished admiring the stunning view of grasslands and tea plantations over 1,000 metres below World’s End, be sure to find Baker’s Falls waterfall – we got some great pictures of this and it’s a beautiful landmark.
If you want to see Sri Lanka but are worried about knowing what attractions to squeeze in, we can help. Our Countryside to Coast experience will ensure you see the best the island has to offer, so you can get on with the important things – creating some fantastic memories.
