Sun, sea and sand are all in abundance in Costa Rica. So it only seems right that the country has ramped up its support for surfing.
Following the World Surfing Games, which took place on the country’s Playa Hermosa beach in the middle of August this year, Jose Urena, president of the Federacion de Surf de Costa Rica, has announced the launch of the Circuito Nacional DayStar 2009-2010.
This surfing extravaganza kicks off on Jaco Beach on December 19th and takes in six other stretches of golden sand around the country over a seven-month period – with the grand finals taking place in June.

And if the swells at the upcoming competitions are anything like those experienced at the World Surfing Games, boarders will be in for a treat.
But Costa Rica has a lot more than just incredible surfing going for it. And while we recommend a bit of boarding to anyone planning an adventure in the South American country, there’s also jungle trekking, diving and white water rafting to get your heart thumping.
