The nearby Eravikulam National Park is perfect for spotting Asian elephants, Indian bison, Bengal tigers, leopards and Nilgivi tahr in their natural habitat, and is also hotly tipped to become a World Heritage site. See dramatic waterfalls at Athirapally, and explore the dunes along the shoreline which protect the calm lagoons and backwaters. Here, only the sound of Koels (a type of cuckoo) will interrupt your peace. Bliss.
