description
There’s no doubt that Jamala Madikwe Royal Safari lodge is in a league of its own in terms of luxury and style, and it definitely lives up to the Sawhili meaning of its name: ‘natural elegance’. Think thatched roofs, stone walls and earthy tones to be matched with elegant furnishings and grand touches of antiques, sculptures and fine art.
The main lodge is the heart of the Jamala, nestled under a grove of ancient Leadwood trees with panoramic views of rolling plains and a waterhole that’s forever abundant with wildlife. Admire the views from the lounge whilst curled up on downy sofas with a roaring fire nearby and a glass of merlot in hand.
location
Jamala Lodge is located in the Malaria-free Madikwe Game Reserve on 75,000 hectares of wild African bush in South Africa’s North West Province. The lodge is easily reachable by car or charter flight from Johannesburg.
your room
Set on terrain that boasts a landscape of vast open plains, dense bush land and towering rocky peaks, you will be blown away every morning you wake up in this paradise. There are only five villas here, making your stay at Jamala Lodge an exclusive experience.
Each villa is beyond spacious with high ceilings, ensuite bathrooms and expansive wooden decks equipped with a private rim-flow pool and sala to escape the midday heat.
Step inside your room to be greeted by a king size four poster bed draped in soft opaque white linens, delicate white orchids and African paintings on the walls. Roll out of bed into your very own private lounge equipped with its own fire place, perfect for early morning breakfast meals and romantic nights in.
why we like it
We love how the Jamala Lodge takes safari luxury to another level. You’re a far cry from camp fire meals at Jamala Lodge, as their very own award winning chef, Nico Verster, prepares world class cuisine for you to indulge in, in the colonial chic dining room or under the starry night sky. And if you’re wondering about the safari, forget the ‘Big Five’, because at Madikwe you’ll get the ‘Super Seven’ which includes Cheetas and wild dogs. Large spacious villas fit for a king, impeccable furnishings and views to-die-for all add to your ultimate luxurious safari experience.
