a day in a life of a bushman

Arriving in Cape Town, you’ll be whisked away straight to the heart of Cedarburg Mountains, and Bushmans Kloof for three nights. Armed with your personal archaeologist, your experience here will revolve around captivating stories explaining the San Bushmen rock art and taking you back to the bushman days. You’ll feel like you have stepped back in time in this rugged, yet breathtaking scenery.

Next up, head to South Africa’s renowned wine region, the Cape Winelands. In order to taste South Africa’s best we’ve pulled some strings to get you into farms that aren’t always open to the public. You’ll taste blends of wine unique to South Africa, such as the Pintoage (Pinot Noir and Hermitage) and Minotaur (Pinot Noir and Merlot), staying at the Grand Dedale at first. A highlight is a private organic brandy tasting session at Dr Edumund Oettlé’s estate. He’s been perfecting the art of producing world class brandy, grappa and port over the past ten years, so you know you’re in for a treat. Next, goats cheese, velvety oyster mushrooms and organic olive oil from Foxenburg Estate. And finally, Mozzarella cheese. Yep, that’s right. There are only two places producing mozzarella cheese out of Italy, and Buffalo Ridge farm in South Africa is one of them.

Venture deeper into South Africa as you’re driven through Bainskloof Pass to the historic town of Tulbagh where surviving Dutch architecture lines the streets. Sip more great wine at the beautiful Rijk’s Estate before stopping off at the Schoonderzicht Farm for Moniki Chocolates. These hand made Belgian chocolates have been made with the likes of saffron to black pepper: you’ll be surprised how well chocolate mixes with spice. Continue your journey to Robertson where you’ll be holing up in the Robertson Small Boutique hotel, ending your day with delicious food at Robertson’s renowned restaurant, Reuben’s.

From the Bainskloof pass to the Franchhoek, you’ll wind around mountains and drive through gorges making your way to the valley of Huguenots where the French first made wine in South Africa 300 years ago. Cruising into Huguenots you’ll find avenues lined with trees, charming bistros and your gorgeous hotel, Le Quartier Francais. Continue your wine chronicles at the Morseson wine estate, stopping off for lunch at the award wining Bread and Wine Restaurant. But take it easy, because tonight you’ll have a nine course gourmet feast prepared for you at Le Quartier’s Tasting Room restaurant.

homeward bound

Making your way back to Cape Town, we’ve made sure you don’t put your last day to waste. We’ll take you for a mouth-watering lunch at our top secret exclusive venue before you hop on your plane home. Bon Voyage.
