A few mad-cap adventurers entered and amazingly enough after 135 hours of flying time (and many stops) later, the triumphant Smith brothers and their two mechanics claimed the prize of £10,000 when they landed on Aussie soil. Talk about a warm welcome.
So this race got us thinking. If it took 135 hours for those early explorers to take a single flight, imagine what could be done in that amount of time now.
