why you should goBegin in glamorous Sydney before we whisk you by seaplane to sample Cowan Creek’s delicious local cuisine. Full from city chic, head for the Blue Mountains for camping like you’ve never known it amongst jaw-dropping nature. Wrap up your trip by touring and tasting the wines of Hunter Valley.
Sydney is Australia’s capital of glamour and one of our all time favourite cities. Right about now the temperatures are rising, the locals are heading to the beach and sneaking off to hidden bays for picnics…Sounds good doesn’t it?
What better way to fall into line with this laid-back city’s style than with a slinky urban break before camping in a luxury swag (that’s a roll up camp bed to you and me) in mountains scattered with wildlife and valleys oozing with wine?
Soak up the cultural sites and get away from it all… This is our new take on Sydney and its lush surrounding countryside.
bird’s eye view
Staying at our favourite hip hotel The Establishment means you’re just a breezy climb to the summit of Sydney Harbour Bridge if you like (yes, a climb: altitude gives you the best views). From here you’re well placed to enjoy an incredible private tour of the Opera House before dashing across the bay in a water taxi to meet your seaplane. Once aboard, we recommend flying up north to seriously glamorous Cowan Creek for a slap-up lunch – (this waterside fuel stop is Sydney’s best-kept secret). Our experts can add all these activities in to your trip on request to make this the ultimate bespoke Australian experience.
Cocooned by the 15,000-hectare Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park, Cowan Creek is the premier mooring spot amongst local weekend sailors. Arrive at The Cottage Point Inn and sit back at your pre-booked deck-top table to devour some incredible modern Aussie fare paired with exquisite wines. Oven roasted jewfish anyone?
swag it up in the blue mountains
Once you’ve seen our favourite parts of the city we’ll whisk you out of town for some fresh air in the Blue Mountains (which are, interestingly, blue from the oil of the eucalyptus trees growing there). Take a two-hour drive in your pre-arranged hire car for a night of wild bush luxury at its best. This is camping, just not as you know it. Rest your head under the stars, sleeping in a deluxe version of a traditional Australian ‘swag’.
For the ultimate luxurious Australian experience, we can arrange a local safari guide to take you walkabout through the bush and a drift down Wolldonlilly River in a canoe. Keep your eyes peeled for the ever-elusive platypus… Feeling a little more adventurous? We’ll arrange a 4WD safari to take you along concealed tracker’s trails, and finish off with a well-deserved bush BBQ: a truly authentic off-road experience.
hunter valley vineyards
What goes up must come down. A smooth four-hour spin will take you down the mountains to Hunter Valley, to unwind with a glass of wine. This is the birthplace of Australian wine, famous for its sublime Semillon and Shiraz varieties.
Settle in to Lilianfels: enveloped by acres of English gardens and lavished with antique furniture, this contemporary hotel features a cutting edge spa to ensure you’re fully relaxed before indulging in some of the finest cuisine in the area at one the thier three charismatic restaurants. Why not also hire a driver to be your skipper and guide you for a day (or two) on a private tour of the Hunter wine region, tasting Australia’s finest en route? Before returning back to Sydney, why not end your stay at Hunter Valley floating across the horizon in a hot air balloon accompanied with a glass of local Australian sparkling wine? The perfect end to a perfect day and, we think, possibly the pefect luxury honeymoon destination.
