Surrounded by the glistening waters of the Okavango Delta, Eagle Island is a water based camp hidden amongst the Illala palm trees of Xaxaba Island making it the ideal escape from the scorching African sun. Built to blend into its environment, the camps offer a tranquil setting perfect for enjoying the sights and sounds of the Okavango Delta wildlife.

location

Eagle Island Camp is accessible by air from Johannesburg and Cape Town via the bustling Botswanian town, Maun. The flight time from Maun to Eagle Island Camp takes approximately 20 minutes.

your room

There are 12 tents on Eagle Island Camp, but these aren’t your usual back garden tents. Each one is nestled on raised wooden platforms giving you breathtaking views of the Okavanga Delta, and comes with a large deck (great for swinging in the hammock). The interiors are simple and sleek, with four poster beds, en-suite bathrooms, privately stocked mini bar, mosquito netting, and discreet air conditioning for those humid summer evenings. To really spoil yourself, check into the honeymoon suite appropriately named Goliath Heron. This is a huge room with an infinity plunge pool, great for taking a mid afternoon dip, and a hidden outdoor bathroom. Here you’ll find the piece de resistance: a deep cooper and porcelain stand alone bath.

why we like it

This is a truly majestic place. We love how ‘all inclusive’ here means all meals, drinks (yes alcoholic ones too), water activities and a helicopter ride. What more could you want? If a fabulous bar is on your agenda, you’ve come to the right place. Fish Eagle bar in the main lodge and has been voted the world’s most romantic bar, absolutely perfect for sunset drinks to share with your loved one (and perhaps an elephant passing by).
