Built in regency style in 1847 Islington Boutique Hotel is the most awarded hotel on the delightful island of Tasmania. The elegant building is surrounded by a beautifully kept garden that offers unparalleled views of Mount Wellington and the rooms themselves are adorned with an eclectic art collection that stems from 30 years of travel. A unique hotel in a beautiful setting that provides a serene and tranquil experience, the Islington Boutique is certainly one to watch.
Situated in Hobart, the capital of Tasmania, and Australia’s second oldest, Islington Boutique is moments away from some splendid scenery. Mount Wellington towers in the background, and the park that stretches over its pinnacle offers some fantastic walking. If city wanderings are more your thing, Salamanca market is bursting with flavour, smells, and colours. The nearby Coal Valley wineries can provide tasting and tours for a full and luxurious stay.
Each of the 11 rooms has a distinctly furnished room with a blending of a bygone Tasmanian era and contemporary design. The centerpiece of which are the exquisite hand-made beds, resplendent with the finest imported fabric and constructed by Australia’s oldest bedding manufactures. The signature suite is decked out with a marble bathroom, fireplace, and tall french doors, but the other rooms are equally wonderful.
Why we like it
Islington Boutique Hotel is the perfect Tasmanian hide-away. It is a stunning building on a much under-rated island that has much to offer. The intimate size makes it ideal for an escape, and the detailed personal touch will leave you wanting to stay for much, much longer.
