Seal River Heritage Lodge is undoubtedly the best in Manitoba when it comes to providing exceptional experiences and comfortable accommodation. Offering a range of different programmes throughout the season, you’re sure to find an itinerary that fits your requirements. Perfectly positioned for optimum wildlife viewing, no stay at this lodge will end in disappointment.
Standing on the shores of Hudson Bay, Seal River Heritage Lodge is a short flight from Churchill and offers the best in ‘up close and personal’ polar bear experiences. Close, too, is the Seal Estuary River and if you take a trip here in the summer, you’ll be in the presence of thousands of Beluga whales.
Authentic and cosy are the two words that spring to mind when attempting to describe Seal River Heritage Lodge. Nestled in what feels like the middle of nowhere, the lodge only accommodates small groups at a time, which adds to the feeling of exclusivity. Rooms are simple, in keeping with the ‘lodge’ feel, and depending on how many people you’re travelling with, include two or more beds. Our top tip: due to the small size and popularity of the lodge, you’ll need to book early.
WHY WE LIKE IT
It’s not often, in this day and age, that you find yourself in a truly remote destination, surrounded only by natural beauty and astounding wildlife. So, when we hunkered down at Seal River Heritage Lodge, we were pleasantly surprised. The tundra stretches out around you for as far as the eye can see and the polar bears often get within a hairs breadth of the lodge fences. It’s a truly immersive experience and a Black Tomato favourite.
