The Cultural Triangle - Climbing Monuments

Accommodation: Vil Uyana, Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka

Chauffeured by your own private driver throughout, this adventure begins with three nights at the Cultural Triangle. Hole up at the sun-drenched Vil Uyana; a peaceful retreat within a sprawling nature reserve and paddy fields. By day, visit some of Sri Lanka’s oldest historic monuments (think ancient wall paintings, climbing immense historical rocks, and rebuilding history in a UNESCO World Heritage site) before unwinding in your private plunge pool to catch some essential holiday sun.

Luxury trip to Sri Lanka | Black Tomato

This is truly ‘back-to-nature’ bliss. Traditional Maldivian water villas perched on stilts over an idyllic lagoon and paddy fields make up this authentic, luxury hotel. Designed by award-winning environmental architect, Sunela Jayawardena, Vil Uyana is the ultimate in ‘green’ luxury. The wetlands and paddy fields were reintroduced by the hotel to encourage the wildlife here, [...]

Tea Country - The Golden Valley

Accommodation: Tea Trails, Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka

From the Cultural Triangle, we’ll take you further inland to the immaculate rolling hills of Sri Lankan tea country, staying in the old tea plantation houses of the Tea Trails. Carpeted in rich tea plantations, this is one of the island’s highlights. With a sense of home in the aged bungalows and croquet lawns leftover from the country’s Colonial era – you’ll never want to leave.  But leave you must, as there’s more of this incredible island yet to be explored.

Nestled in Sri Lanka’s ‘Golden Valley of Tea’ you’ll find four huge colonial bungalows set on a working tea estate perfect for quiet luxury living. Tea Trails is an ideal place to escape from your daily grind – 4,000 feet above sea level surrounded by manicured gardens, acres of tea plantations, lakes and rivers. Simply [...]

Yala National Park - Leopard Country

Accommodation: Leopard Trails, Yala National Park

Sri Lanka

Next, head south-east for a luxury mobile tent safari like no other.  This is not the traditional African safari, but something better.  With the highest density of leopards in the world, you’ll see these spotted beauties roaming alongside elephants, sambar, spotted and barking deer, water buffalo, abundant (and we mean abundant) birdlife, butterfly swarms, iguanas, mongooses, fishing cats, wild boar, monkeys and crocodiles. Shall we go on? You may even get to meet the rare sloth bear as you park up for sunset quietly watching the night shift of wildlife arrive as the sun goes down. Add camping amongst some of the most extraordinary scenery on the planet and dining under the stars, and you’ll be left with memories you won’t easily forget.

Leopard Trails

Nestled within Yala National Park, Leopard Trails offers a unique camping experience where the canvas walls of your luxurious tent are the only separation between you and the bountiful Sri Lankan bush. An enchanting mix of old world hospitality and contemporary flair, the camps hark back to the romantic adventures of a by-gone British colonial [...]

Good to know

Are there any personal touches that can be added for the location?
Absolutely. There are lots of personal touches to add – either things you've always wanted to do or perhaps things that only we'll know about and will recommend because we think you'll really like them. It's our job to find out all about your likes (and dislikes) so everything can be entirely personal and bespoke.
How does it work and how long does it take to plan an itinerary?
Depending on where in the world you're thinking of travelling we'll assign you a Travel Expert for that destination - although if you're not sure where to go, that's absolutely fine too. This is someone you'll deal with from the very beginning all the way to the point of returning from your time away. They are destination experts and will offer lots of advice and original insight to craft a completely bespoke itinerary including all your accommodation, experiences and private tours, guides and transfers. It's why we really like to get to know you, so we can make it entirely personal and get it right first around. But if we don't get it right, that's fine too as we'll speak or email as many times until it's perfect. We try to be as quick as we possibly can but on average we try to get you a first draft of your itinerary within 24 hours of speaking to one of our Travel Experts but it does depend on where you're travelling to and therefore the complexity of the itinerary too.
What is due for a deposit and when do I need to pay it?
Once ready to book we require a deposit straight away and then the full balance is required 12 weeks prior to departure. A deposit can range anywhere between 25-50% of the full cost of the itinerary. It varies depending on which country you're travelling to and therefore which suppliers we work with as they all have different deposit terms. If booking flights with us your deposit will include the cost of these flights too as we need to book those right away.
Once I make a payment are all of the arrangements confirmed? And is it all protected?
Yes. Once your deposit payment is made we make all the necessary reservations and confirm all arrangements with hotels and our suppliers and will send you a full receipt and confirmation document via email. For your peace of mind and to protect your money, we have Tour Operator liability insurance with ATOL and are members of ABTA, IATA and Virtuoso.
Can you help with flights? Can I book them myself?
Absolutely. We have access to live airline fares for nearly all the major airline so can help book flights for you. However, should you wish to book your own then that's fine too – just let us know which so we can seamlessly organise everything from the moment you land.
