Namibia & Zambia: A Stylish Safari from the Skies

Namibia has always been a destination made for epic adventures. But so has much of Sub-Saharan Africa. The diversity of the landscapes, the cultures and the experience down here is truly mindblowing and, really, visiting just one country can never do it justice. On this 12-night African adventure, we’ll take you into the remotest corners of Northern Namibia before hot-footing across the border to the might of Zambia’s Victoria Falls. Holing up in some of the continent’s most luxurious lodges, with some of the most authentic experiences on offer, it’s a discovery unlike any other. Pack your bags and prepare to savour sundowners atop rolling desert dunes, track endangered rhinos through sparse plains, spend time with the last true nomadic people of Africa and soar high above the Victoria Falls.

Beachcombing for Shipwrecks

We’re flying you straight into the heart of it all on this trip. After a quick pit-stop in Windhoek, you’ll touch down in Mowe Bay before jumping in a 4×4 and driving out into the desolation of the Skeleton Coast. One of Africa’s greatest wildernesses, where history lies littered across the beaches and wild hyenas and seal colonies roam, it’s quite the first impression of Namibia. Then again, so is your lodge here. Drawing inspiration from the wrecks that line the coast, Shipwreck Lodge is a one-of-a-kind property where rugged isolation meets all-out luxury.

Spend two nights here, soaking in the views as they roll down the dunes and into the ocean. By day, spend time discovering the Suiderkus and Karimona shipwrecks, the abandoned diamond mine, the downed Ventura bomber remains and the Huarusib River clay castles before capping it all off with lunch on deserted beaches and sundowners atop the dunes.

Down in the Valley

After two days walking through history on the Skeleton Coast, you’ll fly back inland to Sesfontein to check in at Hoanib Valley Camp. Perched on the banks of the River Obias and amid a brooding mountain backdrop, Hoanib invites adventure with a game drive as the preferred means of arrival. Settle in before the temptation of exploration that the surrounding plains, dunes and mountains ignites becomes too much to bear and draws you back outside. Your next few days here will be filled with game drives taking in desert lions and elephants, as well as the chance to get involved in rhino tracking projects and visit the Giraffe Conservation Foundation. A more personal look at the wildlife of Africa, you’ll get the chance to chat with the team – and even meet the giraffes if you’d like.

The Land Time Forgot

From Hoanib Valley, we’ll then take you further off the grid with a light aircraft flight up to one of Southern Africa’s remotest camps; Serra Cafema. In the extreme northwest of the country, right on the Angolan border, this is a corner of Namibia that few people travel too. With your only neighbours the local Himba tribe, Serra Cafema offers the opportunity for truly unbound adventure as you explore the beauty of the Namib desert by quad bike, trek into remote mountain valleys and spend time with this tribe that time forgot.

Waterfall Crossing

After a quick overnight in Windhoek and an afternoon to explore its colonial streets, it’s off to Zambia for a final few days of African wonder. On the banks of the Zambezi River, you’ll spend these final 4 nights at the gorgeous Tongabezi Lodge. One of the world’s greatest natural spectacles, take your pick on how you want to see the Falls. A leisurely stroll around the edge? A helicopter over them – or, better still, a microlight flight? Though if you want to get even closer, why not dip into the Devil’s Pool and peer over the precipice? Fill the rest of your days with sunset boat trips down the Zambezi, guided canoe adventures or game drives through Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park. On your final day, we’ll even set up a romantic lunch on a private island for just the two of you. It’s the perfect end to the perfect trip.
