Eichardt’s Private Hotel, Queenstown

The Eichardt’s Collection knows a thing or two about pampering and has a created a gem of a hotel in their Queenstown property. Of course, the stunning alpine surroundings and majestic Lake Wakatipu alone make it worth the stay. Forget hobbit holes, this exclusive boutique hotel has seven elegant suites, four luxurious apartments, the Residence and the Penthouse to choose from, all of which ooze sophistication.

Location

Perched on the very shorefront of Lake Wakatipu, the sweeping waters and crisp mountain surroundings offer spectacular panoramic views. World-class restaurants are a stroll away and if the chic bars and boutiques of inner-Queenstown aren’t adventurous enough for you, the nearby world-heritage parks are waiting to be skied, hiked and explored. The dramatic landscapes of the Central Otago region, famed as the location for the Lord of the Rings films, lie just beyond and the rural Paradise Valley is just 40 minutes to the north.

Your room

Understated elegance is the defining feature of the Eichardt. Stepping into your room, you’ll be met by the cool touch of sumptuous wood floors, overlaid with soft-touch pile rugs. In the Lake View Suites, a spectacular vista of the lake awaits through the tall windows. The Mountain View Suites direct your gaze towards the alpine scenery and over the buildings of Queenstown itself. Both feature the warm hearth of a contemporary fireplace and indulgent Opossum throws to curl up in after an adventurous sojourn in the crisp mountain air. Better yet, for larger parties in search of the ultimate winter retreat, we can arrange for you to hire the entire hotel—suites, parlour, views and all.

Why we like it

The staggering beauty of the area has us all wishing we were there right now. Location aside, we love the little touches such as the handmade chocolates that await your return in front of a crackling fire.  The careful consideration to smaller details in each room, from opulent chaise lounges, to antique touches on the cabinetry, creates a welcoming abode to accompany the outstanding service.
