Calling all food lovers – to New Zealand. A stunning destination known for its Maori culture, breathtaking beaches, daring activities and world-class art and culture. You’ll be kept busy on exciting adventures, be they sailing through islands, meeting artisans, canyon swinging or hiking national parks – and, what you’ll really notice is the food, it’s incredible. From fresh sea food, of course, to traditional Maori treats, to world-class dining experiences – all with a side of some of the world’s best wine.
Set to Sparkle
Waitemata Harbour in Maori means ‘sparkling waters’ and here, set on the shores, you’ll find New Zealand’s largest city, Auckland. With marine reserves, golden swimming beaches and black sand surf you’ll get lost in the cultural melting pot of experiences reflected in the Pacific atmosphere and cuisine. We’ll arrange for you to visit the many art galleries and museums for a pinch of local culture and point you in the direction of the Viaduct Basin and Wynyard Quarter where you’ll enjoy dining out at the many restaurants, cafes and bars. A trip to the top of the Sky Tower will provide dazzling views – and for those plucky travelers a 360 degree sky walk or sky jump can be arranged. If you’d rather stay closer to the ground, a shopping trip in quaint and historic Parnell is a beautiful spot to try local treats.Read more
Take a cruise to Waiheke Island and revel in the vineyards, olive groves and sandy beaches – in other words, find foodie paradise on earth. The boatshed is the ultimate home away from home on the island, if you’re home is constructed to look like a boat that is. Sitting blissfully above the sun-drenched bay and white sandy beaches of Oneroa it is the ideal spot to wander through gardens or take an invigorating coastal and Native beach walk. The boatshed is also close to the art galleries and local olive oil mill, so you can indulge your mind and taste-buds at the same time. If you feel like spending a little down time indoors the library window overlooks the town and the beach and is the perfect place to curl up with a great book.
Rich in natural beauty, why not see the island by air on your own private helicopter before landing at a boutique vineyard for the afternoon. If you’re into quantity as well as quality just say the word and we’ll arrange a private tour of the more than 30 world-class wineries on the island.
The Farm Life
Meander through the countryside past Lake Taupo and views of the Central Plateau Mountains, before arriving at Palliser Bay. Hugging the coastline of the small rural region of Wairarapa, the Wharekauhau Lodge is surrounded by nothing but 5,000 acres of handsomely rugged farmland. Overlooking the beautiful Palliser Bay, it seems impossible that New Zealand’s capital is only a 90 minute drive away. Nearby, the vineyards of Martinborough, renowned for its pinot noir, keep the lodge’s wine cellar well stocked. We recommend indulging in some of New Zealand’s best wine during the pre-dinner drinks held in the garden and make sure to check out the luxurious indoor pool.
The perfect ending
A quick transfer later and you’ll find yourself in Nelson, New Zealand’s second oldest city and the main hub of the South island. Pick up your set of wheels and drive to the Bronte Peninsula to check in at the beautiful Bronte Country Estate. Situated on the headland of the Bronte Peninsula, cradled between the ocean and mountains with a view out over the Waimea Estuary, there could be no better place to acquaint yourself with the spectacular natural landscape of New Zealand. Spend the day wandering around Nelson’s mountains, valleys and unspoilt beaches brimming with stylish boutiques, bars and art galleries. We love New Zealand but with so much to see this trip perfectly summarises why we love the incredible produce of the North.
