Sahab Hotel, Oman

Overlooking ancient villages and beautiful terraced gardens in the canyon below, the Sahab Hotel is a boutique bolthole whose thoughtful design compliments its magical mountain setting completely. Built entirely from locally sourced materials, the property blends in seamlessly with its surroundings, so on arrival you’ll feel as though you’ve discovered your own secret mountain cave escape (with all the luxury extras, of course). In all honesty, we were utterly charmed by Sahab Hotel, and here’s why…

Location

At 2500 metres above sea level, Sahab Hotel sits high above an enchanting valley and boasts astounding views over it’s incredible surroundings and the little village of Al-Aqur that sits far below. Here on Jabal Al Akhdar Mountain’s Saiq Plateau, you’ll witness sunrises and sunsets like nowhere else on earth. Getting there is easy too; From Nizwa it’s a 30 minute drive to the base of the mountain, at which point you’ll drive up hill for around 45 minutes before reaching this exclusive enclave.

Your Room

Sahab offers guests the choice between family rooms, VIP suites, and standard rooms, but rest assured, whichever you choose, you’ll not be disappointed. Each of the spacious rooms have been decorated in a traditional Omani style and come complete with comfy beds, free WiFi (if you simply must check those emails) and your own private outdoor space to make the most of the views. Waking up and walking out onto your private terrace in the morning to a warm pastry basket and views of the mountain ranges beyond is an experience you’ll never forget. We’re still dreaming of it now…

Why We Like It

The location of the resort alone is enough to make you fall in love, and fall in love we did. It’s a truly magical experience staying here; we know the views will leave you absolutely speechless. Our tip? Make the most of the infinity pool that looks out over the canyon. Oh, and at the days end, be sure to head out on your terrace and settle down to watch one of nature’s greatest shows: sunset over the Omani mountains. Absolute bliss.
