Hotel Astoria, St. Petersburg

For over a century now, St. Petersburg’s Hotel Astoria has been playing host to some of history’s greatest names. A landmark of a hotel, the foundations are built on history whilst the interiors reflect a more contemporary take on luxury. From the 169 Olga Polizzi designed rooms and suites to the open-all-hours Lichfield Bar and the tranquil Astoria Spa, Hotel Astoria boasts all the glitz and glamour of St. Petersburg from a most enviable address.

Location

A quick half-hour private transfer from St. Petersburg’s Pulkovo Airport, Hotel Astoria sits right at the heart of the city. Directly across from St. Isaac’s Cathedral and a short walk from Nevsky Prospect and the Mariinsky Theatre, a stay here puts you just a short stroll away from some of the city’s greatest sights.

Your Room

Individually designed to reflect the beauty and heritage of the city, the 169 rooms and suites embody a sense of timeless elegance whilst still incorporating modern luxury. We loved the Junior Suites with their retro prints from the Bond classic ‘From Russia with Love’, whilst the Presidential Suites keep history live taking their names from great Russian composers. Falling back into king size beds and with views out over Palaces, Cathedrals and the romance of the city, these are spaces you’ll instantly feel at ease in.

Why we like it

The charm of Hotel Astoria lies in its history, with its guestbook naming Isadora Duncan, its facade starring in the silver screen in Golden Eye and its bar taking its name from renowned royal photographer, Lord Lichfield. Even the afternoon tea here has achieved legendary status. Served daily in the Rotonda Lounge with a backdrop of live jazz, the stand includes traditional Russian pirozhki and can even be dressed up to include Keta Caviar.
