Bush Lodge, Sabi Sabi Private Game Reserve

Sabi Sabi is hailed as a ‘luxury home in the bush’ and certainly does its name proud. Bush Lodge is Sabi Sabi’s flagship lodge that blends contemporary luxury with an authentic African bush atmosphere beautifully. This warm but lavish safari escape features 25 luxury suites and two luxury villas, an Amani Spa and two swimming pools. Not to mention the famed Elefun Centre – a children’s haven a world apart from the honeymoon suites where kids can tire themselves out in the best way possible, by learning bush and photography skills and enjoying guided safari walks, and arts and crafts. Bush Lodge is a truly luxurious sanctuary after your day out on safari.

LOCATION

Nestled in the world-renowned, 65,000 hectare Sabi Sand Wildtuin, the Sabi Sabi Private Game Reserve sits south-west of Kruger National Park. It is only a one hour flight from Johannesburg and with its own private airstrip, this reserve is in a secluded yet easy to reach location. With over 200 animals indigenous to the area, we suspect you’ll struggle to put your camera down during your stay. Expect to spot lions, leopards and the rest of the Big Five.

YOUR ROOM

Bush Lodge sits in a prime location within the reserve overlooking a waterhole and an African plain, meaning you’re perfectly positioned for game spotting from the Lodge’s vast viewing decks. Each of the 25 luxurious suites and two villas is modern and comfortable. Their organic and classic furnishings use hues that blend into the natural surroundings and there are of course stunning views out over the African Bush. Stay in The Mahlatini and Tumbela Luxury Villas for indulgent his and hers baths or in The Mandleve Suite for a private plunge pool.

WHY WE LIKE IT

With no fences between Sabi Sands and its neighbouring Kruger National Park, wildlife roams free in an extraordinary 5.5 million hectare area and with it being a private game reserve vehicles are permitted to drive off road, giving you the best possible conditions for game viewing close up. Sabi Sabi will never allow more than 3 vehicles at one sighting (so you won’t need to strain for a perfect view) and they offer photography safaris and lens rental for keen snappers to get the best possible shot. Its bar is quirky but classical, and you must try one of the craft beers on offer, while the safari dining area, with its high thatched ceiling, serves superb cuisine. As an extra indulgence, the Amani Spa at Bush Lodge offers the ultimate African Spa experience and you’ll have to drag your kids away from the Elefun Centre. We really can’t recommend this place enough.
