Chada Katavi
If utter isolation is what you are after, then look no further… we have found 10,000sq.km of exclusive Tanzanian private parkland just for you. Head to Chada Katavi to take part in one of the greatest wildlife shows in Africa; where everywhere you turn there’s something grazing, bellowing, fighting or hunting. After a long day out in the wild look forward to coming home to your boutique hideaway where the lodge’s friendly, hospitable staff will cater to your every whim and add new meaning to the word ‘pamper.’ Throw in extraordinary attention to detail and chic ‘1920’s Out of Africa’ décor, and its easy to see how this newly discovered lodge has to be one of the most welcoming places we have come across.
Location
In little explored western Tanzania, one of the best features of this exclusive tented camp is its remote location hidden on a shady spit of acacias and tamarinds on the edge of the great Chada plain. The canopy of tall trees are a great source of shade and food for a huge variety of animal and bird life and this is bound to lead to great game without having to leave the privacy of your own veranda.
Your room
Nestled amongst the trees and lush undergrowth stand six guest tents replete with colonial wooden furniture, hand woven rugs and beds draped in crisp Egyptian cottons. The tents are spacious, romantic and breezy, whilst your private bush-deluxe bathroom comes complete with an authentic bucket style shower. Rest assured that after a hot day out in the wilderness there will always be a bottle of your favourite, perfectly chilled, tipple waiting for you out on your porch.
Why we like it
Our attentive host continued to surprise with an endless supply of snacks and treats whilst dinners in the ‘mess tent’ (more like a banquet hall under canvas) were an extravaganza of fine food and wine. We loved the option of spending a night sleeping under the stars out in the bush and it doesn’t get much more exhilarating than spending the night with a family of hippos as your neighbours. Of course this experience is completed with your own private bartender who is only too happy to whip you up a bush cocktail.
