Kigelia Ruaha

Nestled high on the banks above the Ifuguru sand river, Kigelia Ruaha is a camp designed to blend in naturally with the beauty of the surrounding bush and is the ideal location for game viewing in the Ruaha national park. The six semi-permanent tents are the perfect mix of luxury meets rustic safari. Enjoy the peace and serenity on your private veranda, who knows the Ruaha’s inhabitants may even join you.

Location

The Ruaha National Park boasts some of the most diverse and plentiful wildlife in all of Tanzania and Kigelia Ruaha is situated right in the thick of it. After a short 90 minute flight from Dar es Salaam to the Ruaha airstrip you will be driven 45 minutes straight into camp.

Your Room

Authentic luxury is key to the design of these six rustic tents; you truly will feel at one with nature without compromising on home comforts. Each walk-in tent is complete with en-suite, flush toilets and safari style outdoor bucket showers giving you the chance to wash under the stars. Enjoy the essential sundowner around the riverside campfire before drifting off to sleep under canvas to the calls of the neighbouring wildlife.

Why we like it?

We love the East African charm and simplicity of Kigelia Ruaha. There really is nothing better than exploring all this park has to offer with a full day open game drive, spot a pride of lions in the bush or gaze in awe at the giant Nile crocodiles and hippos in the Ruaha River. Safari doesn’t always have to be so active, spend an afternoon behind the binoculars spotting the numerous bird species under the shade of a sycamore tree.
