Co-Operations Manager

With the view of Table Mountain from my bedroom window, and the sight of orcas swimming in the ocean on my morning’s commute, my year in Cape Town – at age eighteen – I realized that horizon was easily within reach. I only had to walk toward it. Since that glorious, happy year, I’ve traveled across Latin America, Asia, and Portugal (where I also lived). When you first start traveling, it becomes very hard to stop – reaching right back to the childhood summers I spent on the charming emerald coastline of Ireland.

I’ve always had a long list of places to go, and it only ever seems to get longer; especially working for Black Tomato. It’s always exciting to think ‘where next?’. It’s also exciting – for me – to plot and plan all the operational logistics of our clients’ trips, which is how I spend my days – getting every show on the road, all from behind-the-scenes.

A closer look at Lisbon

In the golden afternoon glow at Miradouro da Graça, I savoured a refreshing ‘imperial’ beer; overlooking Lisbon’s terracotta rooftops and the glistening Tagus River. Following sunset, I rambled down the charming, cobbled streets of Alfama to O Velho Eurico, a tavern where rustic charm meets a lively atmosphere. Tasting a modern twist on traditional Portuguese cuisine. The Bacalhau à Brás, a blend of salted cod and crispy potatoes, surrounded by the ambient hum of conversation and the cosy warmth of the tavern, I experienced a profound connection to Lisbon’s rich heritage and vibrant culture. That’s what it’s all about.
