Carefully crafted by our travel experts, this journey takes you through the very best of both capitals and the majestic countryside in between.

London Calling

Where else is there to begin your trip than in London? On arrival, your personal Black Tomato driver will meet you at the airport and whisk you off to the beautiful Beaumont Hotel for two nights. In the heart of Mayfair, London’s most Royal district, with elegant architecture and some of London’s oldest shops, this is the perfect central location for exploring the capital. Set off on a private walking tour led by a Royal historian for a behind the scenes look at some of the most luxurious British brands and shops, such as historic Royal hatters Lock & Co and Paxton & Whitfield – the official cheese supplier to the Royal household. Then, having explored London on foot, take a trip on the Thames aboard a classic 1930’s boat, The Bluebird. It will take you past The Houses of Parliament and the Tower of London before dropping you off at Cadogan Pier in Chelsea. There you will embark on a dinner cruise passing some of London’s most iconic buildings, as you feast on a delicious meal served on-board underneath the sparkling London skyline.  This is one of the most unique ways to see London and a true favourite of ours.

Make this itinerary yours

Each and every Black Tomato trip is tailored exactly to who you are and what you want to do So tell us about yourself and we’ll create something that’s entirely you.

Start Planning

Spend the following day in one of our favourite parts of London – South Kensington and Knightsbridge. Suburbs that simply ooze charm and sophistication, spend the morning at the Victoria and Albert Museum before heading off to the South Kensington Club, one of London’s finest private members clubs.  Likened to a veritable ‘country club’ in the heart of London, the club is inspired by a sense of wellness and adventure and so to ease any jetlag, enjoy a treatment in your own Private Banya Suite.  During the initial ritual of your Russian Dance of Leaves parenia (banya treatment), you will enter the Private Banya Suite, accompanied by your banschik (banya therapist), where a ‘banya micro-climate’ is created using hot stones to give an earthy heat and a veniki (softened and heated whisks of birch and eucalyptus leaves) to increase the flow of air and distribute the heat evenly around the room. Then, it’s into an icy pool to enjoy the ‘cold interval’.  Tried and tested by the Black Tomato team, this truly is one of the most unique treatments in London and the perfect way to wrap up your time in the capital. The next morning, we’ll arrange for a luxury classic car to be dropped off at The Beaumont ready for you to embark on your London to Scotland journey.

Hit the road

Your first stop is the beautiful city of Oxford where you’ll spend a couple of nights at Le Manoir, famed for its culinary expertise and incredible produce sourced from the hotel’s gardens. You’ll join Raymond Blanc’s team for the ultimate cookery experience as you become “chef for the day” whilst in the evening, we’ll arrange exclusive theatre tickets.

Northern Delights

Continuing north, head into Cumbria’s Lake District to Cartmel, an upmarket gourmet retreat with a night’s stay at L’Enclume – Simon Rogan’s Michelin starred restaurant and hotel. Pick up your ready-and-waiting picnic and wind your way through the lakes to find yourself the perfect picnic spot – or, if you fancy switching country lanes for the high seas (or lakes, in this case), take your picnic aboard the 50-foot luxury motor yacht Mistress, and enjoy a private cruise on Windermere’s waters.

Crossing the border

Across the border in Scotland, you’ll continue onto Gleneagles, situated in the midst of thousands of acres of green, rolling hills, for a further two nights. Daytimes will be devoted to activity here and you’re certainly not short of options – we will arrange a personalised itinerary each day where you can choose from fly fishing, shooting, and archery, or immersing yourself in the sporting history of Gleneagles and taking a golf lesson with their resident pro.

Continue in your classic car through some of the most dramatic roads in the UK, passing through green valleys and roads lined with heather as you head towards Loch Ness – one of the most breath-taking journeys throughout the whole of Scotland.  After a day of driving, your journey will finish in Oban, staying at the beautiful and majestic Inverlochy Castle for the night.  In the morning take to the skies and board your private helicopter – the best way to discover the most iconic scenery Scotland has to offer, circling over the Cullin mountain range on the Isle of Skye and low over Eilean Donan Castle before flying over the remote Knoydart region and over the famous Loch Ness Shores.

Landing in the north you’ll then be transferred to the Cardhu distillery – the home of Johnnie Walker, for an archivist’s tour of the distillery and a whisky tasting.  From Cardhu you’ll then be taken to Inverness for either a private jet or scheduled flight to Edinburgh, where you’ll spend three nights at The Balmoral, situated in the heart of the capital.  We will arrange for a private guide to take you round to see the classic sights of Edinburgh, including a behind the scenes tour of Edinburgh Castle and a whisky tasting with the Malt Whisky Society.

Our iconic private trip from London to Scotland has been carefully designed by our in-house experts who have lived in and travelled throughout these beautiful and historic countries. This truly takes in the very best of both countries and its capitals to showcase the heritage and beauty that’s threaded through the nation.
