How long

13 nights ideal length

Embark on the drive of a lifetime through the heart of Western USA with Black Tomato and discover the freedom of the open road and some of our favourite luxury lodges. You’ll start this epic 13 night trip in the iconic Las Vegas where you’ll discover its famed bright lights and natural wonders, whilst holing up at the chic Mandarin Oriental. Next up you’ll head into the deserts of Southern Utah where you’ll stay at the luxurious Amangiri. Here you’ll take to the waters of Lake Powell and walk in the footprints of Navajo Indians in Monument Valley before hopping back on route east towards the Colorado Rockies. You’ll be well looked after at Dunton Hot Springs where you’ll live out your wildest western dreams,  and last but certainly not least get back to basics in all American tradition in the heart of Wyoming’s wilderness.

Live it up in Las Vegas

Touch down in Vegas and we’ll whisk you off to the Waldorf Astoria which will be your home for the next two nights. There’s much more to Las Vegas than meets the eye, although a trip to Sin City certainly wouldn’t be complete without at least one trip to the infamous casinos and shows. We’ll make sure you experience the incredible Mojave Desert and whisk you off on a day trip to the Valley of Fire National Park. Expect to see stunning red rock formations and over 3,000 year old Indian petroglyphs dotted across the rugged landscape. Get up close and personal with the sandy plains in a sun buggy where you’ll fly across the Vegas dunes and truly get your heart pumping. Then you’ll shift from the ground to the skies in an exclusive helicopter tour over the Grand Canyon and indulge in a champagne toast to the first leg of your journey with some stunning views.

Desert downtime in Utah

On day three it’s time to head off on the open road for a stunning three-hour drive to your next luxury bolthole. You’ll be spending three nights in the beautiful and utterly unique Amangiri resort nestled in a protected valley on the Colorado Plateau. Discover the mysterious and haunting beauty of Antelope Canyon and Monument Valley with one of our private guides – make sure to keep your camera at the ready for one of the most breathtaking and photographed spots on earth. Enjoy the turquoise waters of Lake Powell on a speedboat tour to the amazing natural Rainbow Bridge before heading back to the hotel for some downtime by the pool and treat yourself to one of the great spa treatments. The surrounding deserts around Amangiri offer heaps of activities, including guided Via Ferrata, where guests can mountain climb up the rock face and soak in the startling views.

Cruise off to Colorado

Head back to your trusty wheels for a scenic drive to Dunton Hot Springs, located in a romantic and whimsical old mining town in the depths of Colorado’s countryside. This remote haven is yours to explore freely; whether you’re after breathtaking adventure or simply some fresh air and tranquillity. Spend your days here riding high in the Rockies by horseback, finding peace with a private yoga lesson, pushing yourself to the limit on steep hikes up the surrounding peaks, navigating the river rapids on a kayak and of course taking a dip in the sensuous hot springs.

Luxurious lodges and action packed activities in Wyoming

Today you’ll be saying a final farewell to your trusty vehicle as you fly from Telluride to Saratoga airport for the final five nights of your trip. Hole up at Brush Creek Ranch in the heart of the rolling hills of Saratoga, Wyoming. You’ll be feeling at one with nature in no time; spend your days discovering the stunning trails on horseback, taking to the mountains for some adventurous rock climbing and even chill out with an outdoor yoga class on a platform overlooking the river valley. Enjoy rustic, mouthwatering dinners overlooking the Sierra Madre Mountains, and once you’ve had your fill of the crisp fresh air head indoors to the saloon for some classic evening activities. Think pool tables, classic board games and even a bowling lane.
