A Guide to Bloody Bay, Jamaica

On the West coast of this laid back island lies Bloody Bay. The heart and soul of Negril, Bloody Bay plays host to a ribbon of white sands and lapping azure waters, as well as all sorts of beach activities. The coast is studded with tropical palms with colourful hammocks, which swing in the breeze under dappled sunlight and above a sprinkling of pink shells. We love how the location makes your feel at one with the tranquil Caribbean vibes, yet you’re just a short walk from the vibrant buzz of Negril. Bloody Bay is the best of both Jamaican worlds.

What you’ll do

If you want to kick back for an afternoon of reading, sunning and snoozing, then you can certainly dabble in that. But this place is famed for lively parties and water sports, so the more active in your midst won’t be short of things to do. Dip your toes in the Caribbean Sea as you parasail, kayak or glide along on a sailing boat, or dive a little deeper if you want to discover the colourful coral and sea life below. Secure your place on a white washed chaise, and the enjoy whichever bit of beach life here appeals. Just make sure you take an early evening stroll up to the Negril lighthouse for a fabulous view.

Why we love it

West side only means one thing – stonking sunsets. After a fun filled day of paddle boarding and soaking up the rays, marvel as the sky starts blazing reds and oranges. There are certain spots on land that make for pretty good viewing, but we say this is best watched as you drift along on a boat with the sound of soft steel drums in the distance. Add a rum punch and it’s the perfect way to end a glorious day on Blood Bay beach.
