Welcome to our honeymoon page
We’ve set this page up with the help of Black Tomato to tell you a little about our plans for our special trip in July. After all the excitement and build up to the wedding, we’ll be heading off on a truly amazing trip to Indonesia where we can completely immerse ourselves in the wonderful culture and beautiful natural surroundings over there. We’ve set up this honeymoon donation page (aka the honeypot) for our friends and family who wish to donate towards our honeymoon. This will be the trip of a lifetime and a memory we will cherish forever, so we would love to think that our friends and family have helped to make it happen.
Here is what we have planned…
Our incredible honeymoon begins with a night in the beautiful Raffles Hotel in Singapore where we’ll be able to explore the city, wander through the tropical gardens and round the day off in the earthy decor of the Long bar – the birthplace of the legendary Singapore Sling.
Next up we’ll be heading into rural Java where we’ll be spending the next 3 nights at Amanjiwo – surrounded on all sides by distant smoking volcanoes. In addition to its stunning location, it looks out over the long-lost Buddhist sanctuary of Borobudur, which dates back to the 8th Century, and is the perfect place to watch the sunrise. We’ll be able to immerse ourselves in the Javanese culture and local activities such as a walk through the Menoreh Hills, browsing the morning markets of Borobudur and Muntilan, and wandering through the Temple of Prambanan Valley.
Our next port of call will be Bali, and we’ll be spending the next 2 nights at the beautiful Alila Villas in Uluwatu, situated 100 metres above the Indian Ocean on a limestone cliff on Bali’s Bukit Peninsula. One of the highlights of our stay here will be watching the breathtaking sunset over the ocean from the Uluwatu Temple.
After our stay in Uluwatu we’ll be heading further inland to Ubud, where we’ll rest our heads at the sublime Uma Ubud hotel for the next 4 nights. Set amongst the rice fields, this stunning retreat is a quiet haven on the fringe of the cultural heart of Bali. During our time here we’ll immerse ourselves in a unique cooking experience in Rumah Desa guided by professional cook and trek to the summit of Mt Batur to watch the sunrise over the ocean, with the sacred Mt Agung and Mt Rinjani in the distance. We’ll also embark on an adventurous day trip through Ubud’s surrounding countryside to discover the true Bali and Balinese way of life in the countryside. We’ll stop at Mambal traditional market, the rice terraces and Sangeh (holy monkey forest).
Our final destination will be the Gili Islands, where we’ll spend the last 4 days of our honeymoon at The Oberoi, situated on Medana Beach amongst private grounds on the picturesque island of Lombok. We’ll spend the last few days of our honeymoon snorkelling and island hopping the Gili Islands, and exploring Lombok’s beautiful natural surroundings, visiting the Pusuk Monkey Forest, Sendang Gile waterfall and Senaru village.
