Brisbane is a city that has really come into its own. Now standing at the forefront of Australia’s cultural and culinary scenes, this is one metropolis that is growing at an incredible rate alongside its popularity. We can’t get enough of it and we’re pretty sure you’d love it too, but before you get packing, let us explain why…
AT A GLANCE
As the capital of Australia’s Sunshine State and standing within easy reach of the Sunshine Coast, Gold Coast and the infamous outback, the position of Brisbane alone makes this a desirable destination to travellers and native Aussies alike. However, it’s the city itself that has us hooked. With a cosmopolitan buzz and a popular cafe culture to boot, this is a destination that has something for everyone. From art galleries to gourmet eateries to rock climbing and abseiling, one thing’s for sure, you’ll never be bored in Brisbane.
WHAT TO SEE
With a plethora of things to see and do it’s quite hard to pin down just a few of our highlights, but we’ve managed to do it, just for you. We couldn’t let you go all the way to Brisbane without pointing you in the direction of South Bank Parklands, the city’s go-to riverfront destination for mouth watering cuisine, art galleries and museums and stunning outdoor lagoons and gardens. You could easily spend a whole day here exploring the Queensland Art Gallery, bathing in the immaculate public pools and dining at the award winning Stokehouse Brisbane, so add this one to your itinerary.
Another of our favourite things to do in the city has to be fitting in a visit to the Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary, which is home to more than the name suggests. You can get up close and personal to cuddly koalas and hand feed kangaroos, as well as come face-to-face with Tasmanian Devils, Crocodiles, and Snakes.
And finally, if you’re feeling active, joining a cycle tour or getting out on the Brisbane River in a kayak are both great ways to explore this incredible city whilst enjoying the city’s temperate climate, so why not head outdoors for a fun and unique day of sightseeing by wheel or by boat.
WHY WE LOVE IT
There really is just so much to love about Brisbane. It’s unique, it’s interesting, it’s vibrant and diverse. We arrived intrigued by what we’d heard and left enamoured by what we’d seen and experienced. Do as we did; discover Brisbane for yourself and fall in love with Australia’s most exciting city.
