Plattenberg to Cape Town
My fifth day began with a drive along the famous garden route towards Plattenberg Bay, and I watched the changeable landscape of rolling hills, seaside towns and fields of wind farms on my way. A stop by Bloukrans Bridge allowed me to see the highest commercial bungee jump – not for the faint hearted – before turning my attention to Monkeyland Sanctuary, which houses monkeys from all over the world, allowing them to roam freely together as part of a rehabilitation programme. My final stop was Hog Hollow Country Lodge, where I sat down to dinner at the grand dining table in the lodge with my fellow travellers, each of us sharing tales of where they had come from and where they were going.
The following morning, well-fed and well-slept, my journey continued with a gorgeous sunrise along a quiet beach to the north of Plattenberg Bay. As I drove towards Knysa Head, I found myself awe-struck by the dramatic seascape beside me; and the landscape continued to wow me as I arrived in Cape Town for the first time. I settled at the One&Only Hotel, where I was given magnificent views of Table Mountain from the courtyard, before a short drive to Llandudno Beach to catch a spectacular sunset.
