Press-London
Our favourite spot to pick up a cleansing health hit in the city, Press London are at the forefront of the cold-pressed juice movement. With three stores in central London, these innovators have taken inspiration from the pressed juice scene in LA and New York and reinvented how Londoners can get a quick, healthy juice fix before they embark on their travels. We’ve been catching up with their founder, Ed Foy, and discovering how’s best to utilise their product pre, during and post travel to get the most out of your holiday.
What makes cold-pressed juices the perfect pre / post travel detox?
Before you go on holiday people generally start focusing on their wellbeing and diet to make sure they are in great shape, physically and mentally to get as much from the trip as possible. Cold-Pressed juices are a great way to add a massive boost to your diet with key vitamins, minerals and enzymes and if you use them as a substitute for the more indulgent foods you set yourself up for a great start; whether that’s doing a juice cleanse or just grabbing a green juice a day its much needed TLC before the trip. Post trip it’s all about recovering from the excesses of a trip… if you have been somewhere that has involved more party and less down time, or its about continuing to feel great if you have been on something more focused on relaxation.
Do you ever travel with cold-pressed juice? If so what are the perfect juices to take with you?
Yes, I usually try and have a green juice (Greenhouse 3 is my go-to juice at the moment) on the way to the airport and then if I am flying through Gatwick or Heathrow pickup a juice from Caviar house (who stock PRESS… hoping for our own store in the airports later this year) and have that on the flight. Obviously the liquid restrictions in security mean that you can’t take a large amount, but I do take along two wellness and two Detox tonics to drink at the start and end of a long flight. They really help to boost your immune system and fend off any of those plane coughs and colds.

We have always looked to the US and LA in particular to see how people integrate health and wellness into their lifestyles. Seeing how intense New Yorkers have become about balance in their lives, both exercise and diets, has made us excited about the UK and that, despite being a little behind the curve, we are going to get there too.
Do you have any health/wellbeing rituals while you’re travelling?
I exercise as soon as I can after landing. No matter how short the trip I always take my runners and get out and exercise to reset my body clock and just get the flight out of my system (it’s also such a great way to get out see the place you are staying).
Where was the last place you travelled to and why?
I went to Southern Portugal and spent a week exercising, sleeping, doing breathing exercises and also fitting in some very fun parties with friends. I was careful to front load the week with party and the back end with down time. My secret though is to fly back on Saturday rather than Sunday to make sure I enjoy the return process rather than get into the airport at 1am on Sunday night and start the week tired.
