Following the Coastline North

Welcome to your epic 17 night exploration of Australia’s lesser known (but no less beautiful) Western and Northern reaches. This is a trip that’ll see you exploring the beauty of Rottnest Island (and spotting a Quokka or two), sipping on Margaret River’s finest wines, cruising along the Kimberley coastline and going completely off-grid at BanuBanu Wilderness Retreat. It’s a unique itinerary that few (if any) people have enjoyed. Tempted?

Having arrived in Perth, you’ll be met at the airport and swiftly transported to your luxury digs at the Richardson. You’ll no doubt want at least a few hours to relax after your long flight, but when you’re ready, head out into the city and wander the historic streets of Freemantle before exploring the beauty of the Queen’s Gardens & Kings Park which boasts panoramic views of the city. When you’ve had enough of urban living, head to the coastline where you’ll be able to catch a ferry to the unique Rottnest Island, where you’ll come face to face with stunning natural beauty, as well as the indigenous Quokka (google them, they’re really cute).

From Perth, it’s into the car for a scenic drive down to Margaret River, where you’ll spend two nights at Cape Lodge. A hotel situated amongst beautiful landscapes, we’ll have you settled in a Garden Suite where you’ll be able to make the most of the country views. With a private guide to hand, you’ll be taken to the best vineyards and olive groves in the area, enjoying long balmy days of wine tasting and delicious cuisine.

After a few days of wonderful gluttony, you’ll head back to Perth to catch a flight to Broome. Broome is a traveler’s paradise, home to turquoise waters, white sandy beaches (and even the odd camel). Here you’ll be met by yet another private guide, who will take you on an insightful tour of this pearling town, stopping off at a working pearl farm and other historic sites of this nineteenth century settlement.

Broome also happens to be the destination from which you’ll embark on your seven night cruise to Yampi Sound aboard the magnificent True North. As you drift, you’ll delight in the Cockatoo and Koolan Islands and the majestic Kimberley Coastline. Highlights of this luxury adventure include a helicopter ride over Horizonal Falls and Turtle and Dugong spotting at the Montgomery Reef. With plenty of stop offs off-the-beaten-track, you’ll be able to hike, fish and, most importantly, spend plenty of time on the beach.

The final portion of this unique itinerary will see you heading to the historic Northern Territory.  Whilst you’re in Darwin you’ll stay in the center of the city at Mantra on the Esplanade, an ideal spot to experience the famous NT sunsets and from which you can head out for a day to explore icons like Katherine Gorge and Edith Falls. When you’re done exploring the city and its surrounds, a short flight will transport you to the Bamurru Plains, where you’ll spend two nights for a truly authentic Australian safari (yes, safari). Expect crocodiles, aboriginal interaction and exciting days out in 4WD’s in these wild and rustic landscapes.

A quick stop back in Darwin precludes your final destination – BanuBanu Wilderness Retreat. This secluded, untouched island hideaway is the perfect place to relax and recover from your adventure thus far. Soak up the rays on the beach and learn the handicrafts of the locals. With plenty of wildlife to spot and opportunities to explore the surrounding islands, we couldn’t think of a better way to end this epic coastal itinerary.
