Colombia

Colombia’s Coffee Regions

If you’re anything like 90% of the Black Tomato team, you rely on multiple cups of coffee to get you through the morning. In fact, we’re pretty sure most of the world is fuelled by caffeine, especially  on a Monday (or that’s what we like to tell ourselves as we knock back our fourth cup of the morning).

Right now, we’re having a bit of a love affair with the Colombian coffee bean. Benefiting from the protection of the Andes mountain range and the rich climate of the Andean rainforest; it’s little wonder that Colombia’s coffee is so rich in flavor and provides around 12% of the world’s coffee.

It’s the spectacular setting in which these beans are grown that really gets our imagination going each time we sip a fresh brew. Colombia’s coffee triangle is so lush and spectacular, most travelers visiting this vibrant country wouldn’t dream of missing it off their itinerary. A tour of the coffee triangle will invariably take you to one of our favorite spots in Colombia – the mystical Cocora Valley, whose wax palms disappear into the low lying clouds above. You’ll also enter the departments of Caldas and Risaralda where you’ll stumble across anything from plantation to sleepy town.

Next Monday, make your coffee a Colombian one and dream of these UNESCO Landscapes as you drink. It’ll make the start to the week that much easier, believe us.
