After checking out the city it is time to embark on a unique journey. You’ll be whisked off on a luxury catamaran to sail down the coastline to reach the picturesque Dimaniyat islands, a nature reserve that’s home to deserted beaches and some of the best scuba diving in the region. The next few days will offer you the chance to relax on the white sandy beaches in complete luxury before heading onto an action packed and rustic safari. The Residence is set in isolated splendour on the beaches of the south west of the island and only an hour away from the airport and the historical Stone Town. If you are looking for some adventure, our expert guides can lead you down to Stone Town to explore the spice markets and its unusual architecture, which reflects the diverse influences underlying the Swahili culture. If this doesn’t take your fancy, stay at your luxury villa and take a dip in your private pool or make your way to the luxurious spa for a massage. On your last night you’ll have an exclusive evening Dhow cruise, where you glide across the glistening ocean and admire the stunning sunset – the perfect chance to soak up the tranquil atmosphere.
A unique safari experience
Your next adventure will lead you to The Azura Selous, a secluded safari lodge with stunning views. You’ll head to the airport in Zanzibar City to catch the coastal flight; There is a short, 20 minute, flight to Dar es Salaam, for a quick stop over. From here it will be an hour and a half flight over the stunning African plains before you land on the quaint Sumbazi Airstrip. The staff from the Azura Selous will meet you and take you round the corner to the Lodge, where you will be based for the next four nights.
The Azura Selous is a luxury safari lodge unlike any other, and with the closest resort 5 hours away, you you’ll have all the wonderful game sightings to yourselves. Situated on the banks of the Great Ruaha River, you’re in for a very intimate and special experience. You’ll be staying in chic luxury villas which overlook the river. Perfect for relaxing after a busy day. The first day you’ll be awoken at 5 am to experience the majestic sunrise and spot the vast amount of wildlife in a custom made 4 x 4 vehicle. Selous is wild, rugged and diverse and the landscapes on the game drives constantly change. After a couple of hours exploring you’ll be treated to a delicious breakfast set up for you in the bush. Over the next few days you have the chance to embark on thrilling walking safaris, try your hand at some traditional fishing and enjoy boat trips down the river that’s teeming with hippos. Perfect for honeymooners and also families as the children can head out looking for animal foot prints and then create castings of the prints to take home. Throughout the day you can admire the resident hippo population and even share a Gin and Tonic with some lions sleeping alongside your vehicle, a Black Tomato favorite. In the evenings enjoy a spa treatment on your private terrace or take a dip in your plunge pool with breath taking views of the surrounding wildlife.
An Arabian nights adventure
The final leg of your journey will take you to a to experience a completely different environment and culture. You’ll take a coastal plane back to Dar before taking an onward flight to Muscat which takes five and a half hours. Your driver will meet you at the airport and whisk you to The Chedi hotel, where you’ll be based for your stay. Where the majestic Al Hajar Mountains meet their luminous reflection in the serene waters of the Gulf of Oman, The Chedi rests in-between. This urban oasis set amidst a twenty- one acre luscious garden with Omani villas and guestrooms is the perfect place to relax and enjoy your Arabian surroundings. We’ll arrange for you to visit Muscat with one of our expert guides to explore the impressive Grand Mosque, elegant souks and numerous museums. The delicious food markets and spice bazaars are not to be missed.
The next night will be an experience you will never to forget. You’ll get the opportunity to take an overnight catamaran cruise to the Dimaniyat Islands. These remote islands are a protected nature reserve on the Omani coast that many do not get to see, a true hidden gem. You’ll cruise along the coastline for the day and get the chance to visit other islands and do a spot of swimming and fishing along the way. After touching down on the Dimaniyat Islands you’ll be able to explore these islands in complete seclusion with your guide. You’ll even get to dine and sleep under the stars aboard the boat. The next morning, watch the stunning sunrise over the ocean before your guides will take you on an epic diving excursion to find some whale sharks. You’ll spend your last night back at the Chedi before heading to Muscat Airport in time to fly home and savor those perfect memories of a truly wonderful adventure.
