Do as the Capetonians do
If you’re into your windsurfing, we know a great secret spot away from the crowds to get your sails up. Big Bay, about an hour up the coast from Cape Town is where the locals (and those in the know) go to escape the crowds. This idyllic little spot is where you can find expansive white sands with not a soul in sight, head to one of the beachside bars, grab a beer and take in the views. For some extreme windsurfing, we can organize for a local expert to tutor you in the art of the surf and sail. If you prefer to take things a bit easier, set out on the luxurious Tigger 2 Sunset Cruise – 55 feet of self-styled floating decadence. With the sunset fashioning the skies with the mesmerising reds of dusk, take a freshly made cocktail in hand and watch the show from your floating palace on the water.
Take a drive out to Chapman’s Peak, the capes most beautiful and exhilarating road. Once you’ve traversed the winding road parallel to the cliff that tumbles into the azure ocean you’ll find yourself on Noordhoek beach aka long beach; a horse riding paradise. Alongside a guide, gallop across the golden sands on your brilliant two-hour beach horse ride – when you get peckish stop off for a gourmet picnic as you watch the surf roll in.
Be sure to also test out the waves at Muizenberg; the birthplace of South African surfing. Ride the rolling waves and if you’re a beginner, we know just the people to give you a quick lesson in how to keep your feet. We’ll also keep a guide and vehicle free for you for a day’s exploring around the area for whenever it takes your fancy. Discover soaring cliffs and exceptional scenery as your guide introduces you to all the natural wonders of the region.
After all that beach, you’ll need a little bush time. Luckily we’ve got just the place where you can get back to nature at Sanbona Game Reserve nestled in the Klein Karoo, for the next four nights you’ll be staying in one of the Dwykwa tented lodges. After a day out in the bush exploring the sights and sounds of the wildlife on an intrepid bush walk you’ll be treated to a sumptuous dining experience under the nights sky that’s riddled with glittering stars. The perfect end to a perfect trip if you ask us…
