L’Enclume, The Lake District

Set on the outskirts of the peaceful English village of Cartmel, L’Enclume blends perfectly with its surroundings and is a prime example of beautiful Lake District architecture, with picturesque gardens surrounding the stone-walled hotel. On the grounds of a six-acre farm where ingredients are grown for the hotel’s two Michelin star winning restaurant, L’Enclume boasts 16 individually designed luxury rooms and suites and is a wonderful place for a relaxing countryside vacation in total luxury.

Location

L’Enclume sits on the edge of the picturesque medieval town of Cartmel in Cumbria. It is an idyllic setting thanks to its winding streams, cobbled paths and quintessentially English stone buildings. No trip to the stunning Lake District is complete without rambling walks through forests and ambles around the lakes. You’ll struggle to find a better place in Britain to disconnect, unwind and get back to nature.

Your room

L’Enclume is home to 16 elegant and individually designed rooms. Each is designed in a sleek modern style but still retains references to its historic surroundings such as incredible original wooden beams. With quaint window seats for you relax into and daydream as you take in views of the river or the garden these rooms are a country lover’s paradise.

Why we like it

Besides it being exactly the sort of traditional English country retreat that we love, the food really sets this hotel apart. With chef Simon Rogan at the helm L’Enclume’s two Michelin star restaurant was ranked #2 in the U.K. Good Food Guide 2018 and retained a perfect 10 score. The ingredients are sourced locally from Simon’s own farm that he developed as part of his passion to use the freshest and best quality produce wherever possible. Staying at L’Enclume automatically includes a reservation for dinner at L’Enclume restaurant and breakfast at sister restaurant Rogan & Co so you’re in for a scrumptious stay.
