The sheer diversity of Colorado’s landscape makes it an adventurer’s dream; from the bright lights of the city, to the flat desert landscape, deep canyons and lofty mountain peaks, there is so much time to explore. In our new eight night itinerary, we’ll give you a taste of everything this state has to offer, while keeping you out and active along the way.
STARTING IN THE CITY
Flying into the state’s capital of Denver, allow yourself time to gear up to your active adventures ahead. If you’re lucky enough to be here in the summer then soak up the adrenaline pumped atmosphere of a baseball match in Coors Field, or if you visit in winter, there’s plenty of indoor sport you can catch at the famous Pepsi Centre, including basketball and hockey. Both venues make for a quintessentially Coloradan experience. When the sun shines (which is most days), why not partake in a bit of sport yourself paddle the waters of South Platte River, or jump on a bike and explore the different neighborhoods and art districts. A short trip out of this vibrant city, we recommend you see the magnificent Red Rock Park & Amphitheater, a truly wanderlust-inducing amphitheater carved into the rocks, inspired by the epic Greek theaters. This early 20th century gem boasts some fantastic outdoor concerts during summer, a perfect way to spend an evening during your stay.
OUTDOOR DISCOVERIES IN SNOWMASS
Leaving the city lights behind you, we’ll arrange a transfer to take you through the sandy desert plains and up into the mountains, passing incredible rock formations as you go. After taking in the epic scenery, you’ll arrive in the quaint village of Snowmass, at the foot of peaks that beckon you up. Of course, there is the obvious lure of this resort in a winter, with its world class skiing facilities and easy access to slopes suited to all abilities. You’ll be spending three nights in the beautiful Viceroy hotel, an ideal position for ‘ski-in, ski-out’ in winter, or an exhilarating snowmobile ride. But you are equally well located for a gondola ride up to the mountains for hiking and the exciting new biking trails when the snow melts, and the year-round activities the town has to offer (there’s something every weekend in summer, from outdoor concerts to sporting events).Read more
Surely one of the most magnificent ways to see Snowmass in summer is from the sky, so we’ll book you in for an unforgettable hot air balloon ride; a peaceful way to take it all in. If you’re lucky enough to find yourself here in September, then you can experience the Snowmass Balloon Festival, where the bright blue skies become dotted with vibrant silks. Back on the ground, you can also spend an afternoon on the golf course, or, in true Western style, saddle up for a bit of horse riding and cattle driving.
TAKING IN THE LANDSCAPE IN ASPEN
A short drive to Aspen and you find yourself in a town with an altogether different atmosphere and with yet more incredible scenery to gawp at. We’ll arrange for you to stay right in the center at the Little Nell Hotel, which is the perfect launch pad for ambling around the town or setting off on alpine adventures. Your next three days will be unadulterated outdoor activities to uncover the delights of Aspen. Skiing in winter is a must, but when those mountains lose their snowy white sheets, it’s time for some different action-packed thrills. The peaks that form the backdrop to this enchanting town are ideal for hiking and biking; but if your inner adrenalin-junkie is trying to get out, we think paragliding is the most spectacular way to see the sights. If you’re still craving more action after that, then there are white-water rafting experiences that will show you the landscape from an altogether different angle. If you want to see it all but thrill-seeking isn’t your thing? We can also arrange a Jeep tour to let you uncover Aspen’s natural wonders and spot some of the wildlife who frequent the area.
In Aspen-Snowmass Coloradan mountain adventures abound; and there’s plenty to give you your fix of outdoor activities. But if they leave you hungry for more, we can factor in an extra night on your way back through the majestic landscapes that make up Colorado. Finish your trip with a unique helicopter tour over the diverse valleys and canyons, before taking a wine tour with one of the many producers in the state. And there you have it, some of the many adventures to be had across this wondrous state.
