With great swathes of glittering coastline and a pervading old-world glamor, The Palm Beaches is the epitome of Floridian luxury and natural splendor. From the moment you touch down and make your way to one of the gleaming beachfront hotels, you will fall under the enchanting spell of the area, which will only grow stronger as you discover the variety of offerings that can be found. If you feel like indulging yourself, there are world-class restaurants, cocktail bars and lounges, storeping options and award-winning spas; but if your active side is calling, then The Palm Beaches has more than 70 parks, 150 dive sites, and activities ranging from biking and golf to birding and water sports. Our new six-night itinerary will show you the best of this charming spot.
FLORIDA’S COASTAL CULTURE
To make the most of the exclusive setting of The Palm Beaches, we’ll arrange for you to have an ocean view room – each morning you can wake up and look out at the sparkling blue waters; the view of your playground for the coming days. This trip is all about feeling refreshed, so start as you mean to go on and take a dip in the inviting sea before basking on the beach to take stock of your surroundings. The 47 miles of pristine coastline is central to life here, so whether you just watch as the glamorous world goes by or you choose a more active route with snorkelling, diving, kayaking or kite-surfing, few can resist the call of the ocean when they arrive. When the midday heat kicks in, escape to the shade of a gallery or museum, where you can learn more about the alluring past of the region. After a hard day’s work, reward yourself with a Herb Garden Mojito before dinner at Jové Kitchen & Bar at The Four Seasons Palm Beach, where you will find a flavorful menu stocked full of fresh and local delights.Read more
GET OUT AND GET ACTIVE
Your sumptuous hotel may lure you in after dark, but by day you will want to soak up some rays in the beautiful landscape of The Palm Beaches. There is a mantra for being active here and it’s really quite infectious. Why not make the most of the cooler early morning sun and play a game of pre-breakfast tennis? Maybe yoga? Or perhaps you’d rather have a round of golf – this is Florida’s Golf Capital after all, so it would be almost criminal not to get involved, even if you’re far from being a pro.
When you’ve had your fill of kayaking the waterways or diving, snorkelling and water-sports in Jupiter, Delray and Palm Beach (just a few of our favorite cities and towns in the area) or hop on a bike, wend your way along the cycle paths and explore with the wind in your hair. Go unguided and see where you end up, stopping anywhere that takes your fancy. That said, few can resist the plethora of famous storeping districts, and they are very much part of the culture; we recommend a visit to Worth Avenue, which, with its colorful blooms and Addison Mizner Mediterranean meets Spanish-Colonial-inspired architecture, looks like something from a movie set. No wonder it has been voted as one of America’s ‘most iconic’ streets. A little further South, you will find Atlantic Avenue, home to a host of unique bars, restaurants, boutiques, and the ultimate spot for a bit of buzz in the evenings.
With all its luxury, glitz and glamor, The Palm Beaches is also known for its nature and wildlife. Just an hour’s drive to the West (or a very short helicopter ride), you will be blessed with views of the Everglades; a phenomenal area of tropical wetland made up of sawgrass marshes. Aside from being breath-taking landscape to look at, this is also the habitat for wildlife, such as alligators and snakes, which you can try and spot as you travel along by airboat (tip: like you, these creatures shy away from the heat of the day, so best go in the morning). A truly unique experience to the East–if it piques your desire to see wildlife, is the Loggerhead Marinelife Center, a conservation and rehabilitation hospital for sea turtles. If animal sanctuaries interest you, you can also visit the Busch Wildlife Sanctuary and The Palm Beach Zoo. Several botanical gardens can also be found throughout the Palm Beaches, so you can wander through an urban oasis with panoramic backdrops, and nurture your mind and soul with the tranquillity.
There is no end to the list of things to see and do in The Palm Beaches; and while six days will give you a distinct and lasting flavor of this popular destination, we’d hazard a guess that it has you coming back for more. This has been the playground for the rich and famous for decades, and there is a reason why. It’s time to Discover The Palm Beaches for yourself.
