More often than not, we like to look at the world from a new perspective; to see places in a way that the usual tourist trail might not allow. Colombia is home to a wealth of beauty, from shimmering Caribbean Sea, to lush rainforest, rolling hills and the majestic peaks of the Andes. So, we think it’s time to take a look at the week ahead from the towering Colombian mountains.
Covering over 30 percent of the region, the Andean region provides diverse landscapes of snow-capped mountains, fiery volcanoes and deep mysterious valleys, and they are also home to a plethora of exotic flora and fauna. The region cuts through the beating heart of this country, presenting panoramic views wherever you look. What’s more, the rich vegetation and high altitude provide the perfect conditions for the infamous coffee cultural landscape – another reason for us to be thankful of these fruitful mountains. Take a trek along some of this extensive mountain range, through the coffee plantations and fill your lungs with the fresh, natural scents. It beats the best commuter coffee.
But it’s not just the heady aromas that have us hooked on the Andes, watch the swaying palms tower up into the clouds, or the ancient ruins nestled in the slopes. Even just a few moments up in the Andes unveils a whole new view of Colombian beauty and will give you a fresh perspective on life.
