Kangaroo Island is a wildlife haven and the perfect showcase of rugged Australian natural beauty. An easy trip from the mainland, either by ferry from Cape Jervis, or by air from Adelaide Airport, will have you on these idyllic shores in no time.
AT A GLANCE
The brilliant shores of Kangaroo Island have been sculpted over the years to become home to some intriguing geological curiosities – Admiral’s Arch for instance, and whilst the rocks are freckled with penguins and sealions, venture a short way in land and you’ll discover koalas, and wallabies galore.
WHAT TO SEE
The Chase National Park is the largest on the island and is home to various flora and fauna. Perhaps most stunning are the Remarkable Rocks, sculpted by the wind over centuries.
Island Pure Sheep Dairy is a must-see for any foodie tourists. This local dairy churns out exquisite and unique yoghurt and cheese. Another island treat is Ligurian Honey for a sweet flavor of Southern Australia.
Surfers can’t afford to miss a trip to Vivonne Bay when on the island. The white sands, clear blue waters and fantastic currents make this a haven for any masters of the board.
WHY WE LIKE IT
We love the natural buzz of Kangaroo Island, it is a tranquil haven that harbors such a great energy, from sea to shore and from the exotic wildlife to the wind-ravaged rocks they live on, there is never a dull moment.
