No, this isn’t a guide to camping in the wilds of Maricopa County, or to the best hoedown saloons in Scottsdale (in fact it doesn’t feature any, although we definitely think they are worth a visit). You see, this town actually has a rather sophisticated night life. Brimming with bars boasting unbelievable views over the stunning Arizona landscape, you’ll be spoilt for choice when it comes to deciding where to spend your evening. We’ve got a few favorites, however, so take a look at this list and the decision might be that bit easier.
For a bar with a view, look no further. From the Wet Deck and Shade Lounge atop the rooftop, sip on long cocktails and enjoy the incredible backdrop of Scottsdale’s bright lights; it really is quite something. The ambience is sophisticated and chic and matches the quality of drinks on offer.
ORANGE SKY RESTAURANT
After a romantic evening with a loved one? Then head to the 15th floor of Talking Stick Resort and take in the panoramic views of the McDowell Mountains. The view really is unbeatable and with the distant hum of the resident pianist and jazz trio, you’ll happily sip on the expertly chosen range of wines for hours.
JADE BAR @ SANCTUARY RESORT
There’s a reason Paradise Valley was named Paradise Valley, and from the Jade Bar at Sanctuary Resort you’ll understand this reasoning. With sweeping panoramic views onto the rocky landscape you’ll enjoy inspired cocktails and champagnes in one of the most dramatic locations in the west. We can’t help but think this was a local haunt for the cowboys’ way back when.
Ever heard of a shipwrecked inspired cocktail menu? Neither did we, but Citizen R + D have fixed this firmly into our mixology vocabulary. At this unique bar, cocktails are created from salt water cured barrels that are agitated several times a day to simulate the movement of the ocean. The result is a soft, complex and briny version of old classics. If you’re anything like us, you’ll be hooked from that first sip.
Much like our desire for an off the beaten track experience, we are also fans of own made liquors and beverages. At Hermosa Inn you won’t find any labels, instead you’ll be treated to bespoke drinks and an electric atmosphere. On Mondays the bar is turned into a personal laboratory and all kinds of potions are mixed up. We rather like the sound of Duck L’Orange Tequila Old Fashioned and are somewhat curious about Bitter Pig. You’ll just HAVE to try it out.
