The outfits are in, the bags are packed and the destination awaits- but Fido is off to the kennel. A familiar scene? At Black Tomato we love our four legged friends, so we’ve compiled a list of our favorite dog friendly hotels to indulge both animal and owner next time you head off on your travels.
Where: Rome Cavalieri, Rome
When to go: September/October
Best for: Foodies on the hunt for a cultural binge
Soak up the opulence of the Rome Cavalieri with your dog on your next visit to the eternal city. This Waldorf Astoria hotel caters splendidly for canine companions, with a special Very Important Pet service, so whilst you dine at three Michelin star Heinz Beck’s ‘La Pergola’ your pet can feast on a variety of gourmet options. Fifteen acres of nearby parkland are more than adequate to stretch your pooch’s legs in the fresh Rome air up on Monte Mario hill, and if you are preoccupied being swept away by the wonders of Rome, a walking and sitting service is also provided.
Where: Loew’s Coronado Bay, San Diego
When to go: July-October
Best for: The pup with Point Break ambitions
At Black Tomato we love nothing more than a long walk on a sandy beach, and San Diego has an abundance of them. Luckily there is no need to leave Fido behind as the area is brimming with beaches for dogs such as the ‘Original dog beach’ or ‘Fiesta Island’, and you can even teach the more adventurous canines to surf. Luckier still is the presence of the Loews Coronado Bay hotel, the hosts of an annual dog surfing competition and one of the most pet friendly hotels we have come across. An oasis on a private peninsula it gifts dogs and their owners everything they need for a perfect stay.
When to go: April-September
Best for: Canines deserving of the luxury treatment
In Palm Beach have your dog on waited hand and foot with Brazilian Court’s Bark Butler package, where parents and pups are welcomed on arrival with a special bark box of treats, toys, and titbits. The package also includes blueberry facials and milk thistle rubs for weary paws as well as a dog sitting service for when neither of you are indulging in luxuriant spa treatment. The complementary owner and pooch photoshoot really takes the biscuit though, lasting an hour it includes a forty photo album to treasure and adore your shared memories at this idyllic place known to many as the American Riviera.
