Toronto, Canada’s largest city, where you’ll find a buzzing subwaypolis overflowing with multicultural arts and a culinary scene guaranteed to wow your taste-buds.
At a glance
As the gateway city to the Niagara Falls and Ontario’s epic natural parks, Toronto certainly gives off the impression of being an outdoorsy city. But don’t be wooed by its natural beauty too quickly because the city is also the shopping capital of Canada. With this in mind, Toronto is the city to head to in Canada if you’re feeling indecisive or simply fancy being spoilt for choice.
What to see
Getting away from your well-known brands is almost too easy in Toronto, and the alternatives available are dangerously good. Lost and Found in Little Portugal offers brands unavailable anywhere else in the city and provides a shopping-come-espresso bar experience with its in-house café. Pop-up shops are increasingly popular too, particularly in high end fashion district, Queen Street West. Kensington Market is your go to for vintage pieces, and, what with being adjacent to the second largest Chinatown in North America, there is a plethora of retail opportunities to be had.
Don’t forget the pair of hiking boots hidden amongst those shopping bags…Running from the mouth of Georgia Bay to Niagara on the Lake, The Bruce Trail is the oldest and longest trail in Canada – prepare for spectacular views and native tales as you take on forests, lakes, rushing rivers and gorges. Then take to the skies with Niagara Helicopters, which will see you soaring along the waterfall edge and witnessing stunning aerial views of the Niagara Falls. For epic views of Toronto, head up the CN Tower and complete the Sky High Adrenaline Rush: 131 floors up, attached by a harness to the outside of the building.
Why we love it
This exciting case of extremes makes Toronto a must-visit city. We love that it caters to any fashionista’s needs yet simultaneously ensures visitors experience the natural thrills the province offers. Whether it’s that you and your fellow travellers can’t decide on the day’s activities, or simply that you want to tire yourself out as much as your credit card, Toronto can – and will – rise to the challenge.
