With a claim as big as ‘Best Restaurant in the US’, you’re sure to be blown away by the slick culinary concepts found at The Slanted Door. We already know SF is food Mecca so it really is no surprise the city has churned out yet another critically acclaimed eatery. It holds many accolades, but here’s why we think you should pay it a visit.
Originally opened in 1995, the restaurant has moved to its new position right on the harbor edge, where it boasts views onto Bay Bridge and Oakland’s skyline beyond. Charles Phan, chef-owner, has been cooking here for twenty years and definitely knows a thing or two about Vietnamese food. Phan uses only locally sourced produce and for every item on the menu he personally visits its origin. Having studied the traditional ingredients he brings them slap bang up to date with his team; his creations are faithful reproductions of world classics, but with an injection of urban cool.
Take a window seat for the ultimate view, then choose from your menu. The shaking beef is sure to have you quivering at the knees, whilst one of their signature cocktails will keep you cool as you make your way through the spicy Monterey squid. We recommend the cellophane noodles and anything from their raw bar. Don’t forget to catch a glimpse of the specialists in action; they’re as impressive as the food.
